Yep, as the title suggests last night was the Clinton Street Cabaret's (CSC) 48th Term Switch Night. Yay!
What is switch night? Well several weeks ago we, the CSC, voted on a theme (it makes the night more fun, and besides, making exact RHPS costumes to wear for one night can get expensive), put roles into a hat, drew roles (not your current role), traded roles (not for your current role), and then spent several weeks making costumes. Last night was the culmination of about a month of work and the Adult Swim themed show was A-MAZING!
Yes, I'll admit I haven't seen much adult swim, nor had many of the other cast members, but there were still some great costumes including many characters from Venture Brothers (Go Team Venture!), Futurama (including a sexy Amy Wong and a super cute, adorable, brain slug), and even an official Shake costume. I'll post pictures as soon as I get a CD from our photographer.
I drew the part of Rocky and decided to go as Vash The Stampede from Trigun. Why not? My living room owns a poster of him, I own a red trench coat, and he has blond hair. So, it was decided. Not to mention, it was freezing outside and the coat was oh so warm and I recently hurt my knee, so kneepads were an excellent unexpected bonus. However, my wig was a silly disaster.
I only had to buy black foam to make fake buttons and two toy guns. So, my costume cost a total of $11.50. The true measure of a good costume is how recognizable you are. I got a few “it’s the guy from Trigun” comments, one “oh my god, oh my god,” and a “you know I’m gonna have to rape you later.” So, I figure it was a well-spent $11.50.
Kudos to everyone and again stay tuned for pics.
